Edinburgh Parks & Gardens

There are some great parks and gardens right at the centre of Edinburgh. You can watch bands playing in Princes Street Gardens, relax in the restful Botanic Gardens, or do something more energetic instead. You can find a full list of Edinburgh's 144 public parks on the City of Edinburgh Council website. These are classified as premier parks, natural heritage parks, city parks, community parks, and gardens.

Premier Parks

Premier parks are a small number of high quality parks cared for by the City of Edinburgh Council, offering a wide range of facilities aimed at international and national visitors as well as local and city-wide users. We've also listed the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, and the 650 acre Holyrood Park (which includes Arthur's Seat), which is a scheduled ancient monument and a site of special scientific interest. Arthur's Seat rises 251m (822 feet) above sea level, and a climb to the top on a fine day will reward you with magnificent views across Edinburgh and over to Fife.
